Mr. MacNeill has been a
Microsoft Certified Solution Developer since 1997, with certifications in
Visual FoxPro, SQL Server, as well as application architecture and design.
He was first certified in 1994.
Mr. MacNeill is a Technical Editor with FoxPro Advisor magazine and authors the ActiveX Control Showcase
, highlighting the latest in ActiveX and COM
development. He has also written for several other magazines, across
Europe and North America.
Mr. MacNeill has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences,
including Microsoft's DevDays 97,98 and 99, and FoxTeach 94,95 and 96. He was
one of the speakers at the first German Developer's Conference in 1994.

Mr. MacNeill is the author of GENMENUX, a public domain
tool used by many FoxPro developers. This work, combined with his many
hours devoted to helping other users, earned him the Microsoft Most
Valuable Professional awards in 1995 and 1996.
As a trainer, Mr. MacNeill started training
organizations in the use of Foxfire!, a powerful report writer, in 1995
for MicroMega Systems. He started training developers to use FoxPro and
provided a developer upgrade class to help developers become more familiar
with Visual FoxPro.
As a consultant, Mr. MacNeill has helped many
organizations make better use of their existing solutions and technology.
He provided expertise in Microsoft tools such as Outlook and Project for
organizations such as Merkley Supply, Flexus and Canadian Coast Guard.
His involvement with technology started in 1980 with the
TRS-80 Models I and III. In 1984, he started working with the Apple
Macintosh, moving towards graphical interface design.
In 1989, he started working at Statistics Canada in the Informatics
User Services Division. Starting with inventory order entry, he developed
the WIS, the Warranty Information System. He was the Configuration
Management System Developer during the Premises Wiring research
phase in 1991. At Statistics Canada, he started working in FoxPro, first
as a user, then as a developer, carving out a niche of knowledge.
In 1992, Mr. MacNeill started working at PC Edge Inc, a company
specializing in Salary Management systems for Canadian government
departments. At PC Edge, he was the lead developer in the Membership
Administration System for the Canadian Figure Skating Association.
In 1995, Mr. MacNeill joined forces with Chuck Melton and started
building better transportation software. Melton's company, MTI, is
recognized as one of the top transportation PC software companies in the
United States.
In 1997, Mr. MacNeill was a senior consultant and project manager for
Exocom Application Solutions, one of Microsoft's Regional Directors in
Canada.
In 1998, Mr. MacNeill started AKSEL, focusing on providing the best
solutions for companies frustrated with the quick pace of technology.
Extensive experience with application development and programming
- Implemented several leading edge solutions for Ottawa-based companies such as
Flexus, CUIC and Merkley Supply
- Horizon Transportation Suite Product Manager for MTI
- Designed Internet Web Site for MTI using ActiveX and new technology
- Designed state of the art Business Event Activity Manager at
MTI, using Microsoft Visual Tools, ActiveX and OLE Automation
- Helped bring QTRACS/Windows, the first Windows product for QUALCOMM to an international market
- Created several "leading-edge" applications, using Visual Tools, including Active Server Pages, Visual Basic, Visual FoxPro and other programming tools
- Built an office integration "suite" combining the functionality of Word, Excel, Project, Access and PowerPoint with Windows for Workgroups
- Author of GENMENUX and SetupX, public domain tools and other tools that enhance the development environments with several other public domain tools
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and industry contacts
- Trained several organizations across North America, including NORTEL, Ontario Hydro, RSA and RCMP
- Author of ActiveX Control Counter, a monthly column in FoxPro Advisor Magazine
- Awarded Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award for 95 and 96 for work in the development community
